Pretty in Pistachio – Heritage Prairie Farm Wedding {Elburn Illinois Photographer}

Rose and Riley’s laid back affair at Heritage Prairie Farm was certainly a memorable day.  The couple was so easy-going and fun, it was impossible not to smile around them.  I don’t think anyone will forget how giddy and happy Rose was during the ceremony and her cute giggle.  She couldn’t hide her happiness and Riley tried very hard to be formal, but it’s an uphill battle when confronted with Rose’s infectious positivity and happiness.  You just have to smile around this couple.  You have to.

Although it was relaxed, the style and elegance of the couple was apparent in all the details and unique features they had at the ceremony, reception, and dinner.  Rose wore a handmade floral crown made of live super-mini succulents and hops.  She and her maids carried unique succulent bouquets and the men wore similar boutonnieres all handmade and shipped special just a few days before the wedding from Bohemian Bouquets.

In order to enjoy the farm to its fullest, Rose and Riley chose to wear Chuck Taylors, so they could walk in the fields and dance up a storm (which they did, literally).  The maids were all pretty in pistachio and the grooms men wore the perfect gray suits and green ties to go with the green theme.  The couple told me all about their love of horticulture at the Chicago Botanical Gardens where we did their engagement session and they showed their love of gardening in the green herbs boxes they planted to use as centerpieces on their tablescapes.  The herb boxes were filled with parsley, thyme, dill, oregano and a fun electric green moss accent. I found Riley tending to the herbs and watering them before the ceremony.  Vintage farm china and succulent accents completed the tablescapes.  Mini jars of honey from the farm doubled as a seating chart as well as a party favor for the guests.

Favorite details from the day included the personalized Huppah Rose and Riley made as their wedding canopy during their modern Jewish ceremony.  They chose a pretty electric green color and detailed it with cute images of the “Love Is” characters.  Rose told me when she and Riley first met, he would cut them out of the newspaper every day for her and she has kept them all as a memento.  Also, the painting of the two of them done by Rose’s Uncle Defrancesco was a centerpiece of conversation during the reception.

Most memorable moment……. if I had to pick just one maybe being photo bombed by the sweetest kitties you have ever seen back by the red farm.  We couldn’t keep them away, so we finally just gave up and invited them to stay.

I am so excited this wedding has also recently been featured on Rustic Wedding Chic.  Yay!
