I photographed this wedding in October at the always beautiful Heritage Prairie Farm in Elburn, Illinois.
Everything about this burgundy and plum wedding was a dream. The couple’s vision was a beautiful blend of feminine and masculine. Marissa, the bride, wore a fitted strapless gown and pretty jeweled Audrey Brooke pumps. Mike, the groom, wore the perfect tailored suit with a plum tie and hombre pocket squares. They were complemented by five girls and five guys on each side and one super adorable, hard not to pinch those cheeks, flower girl.
The couple had an earlier wedding at St. Patricks church in St. Charles, so they chose to not see one another before the ceremony. After they tied the knot, they had a bubble exit to their car and were swept away to the farm.
At the farm, we took some time to photograph them in and around some of my favorite locations (and theirs). I have photographed many weddings at Heritage Prairie and feel like I know the place like the back of my hand, now, but every wedding is different and unique in it’s own special way and I am always excited to see how each day will unfold.
Some of my favorite details of the day included the huge sweets table from The Sugar Path. Their cake had a beautiful bumble bee brooch and a swoosh of florals by Town and Country Gardens. Each guest was treated to a touch of honey and a honey spoon as a guest favor. After dinner, guests spent the night dancing and mingling by the campfire. From the Bride: What three pieces of advice would you share with couples still in the planning process? #1: Do what feels true to yourself. You will get advice from everyone whether you want it or not, trust yourselves. #2: Relax. It feels like every part of the planning process is the biggest moment in time…it isn’t…your love is what matters. #3: Find vendors that make you feel comfortable and are knowledgeable about day of wedding details, it will make your wedding day flow smoothly.
What story would you tell about your day? Our wedding day was beautiful. It was a picture perfect, crisp October day and we couldn’t have asked for more. My groom and I stepped away from the partying once the formal dances ended and we looked out over the party tent and at the starry night and just enjoyed feeling content with each other during the celebration. Find peace in all of the excitement of the wedding and keep that feeling with you both as you enter into a life of marriage together.
