“We want our wedding to be fun!” was what Denise and Cavin told me when we first met. Well, I would say this wedding was a lot more. It was a perfect mix of rustic, stylish, eclectic, casual, and 100% completely fun. Looking at the photos, I hope you are able to get a sense of how much love and personal touches went into this whirlwind day.
Their wedding was at the always remarkable Heritage Prairie Farm in Elburn, Illinois. Cavin wore the best tailored suit I have ever seen and Denise wore a simple and elegant BHLDN gown with modern cutouts and perfectly flowing lines. They planned a standing ceremony under a maple with about 20 immediate family and a few very close friends at 4:30 with a cocktail hour and about 150 more friends immediately following at 5:00. The couple had a first look before the ceremony to allow for more time with friends and family afterwards.
Well, on wedding days, things just don’t always go as planned. Mother Nature decided to make this day cold and rainy and they quickly moved their ceremony into the farmhouse kitchen. This couple was not fazed by the change in plans. If you know Denise and Cavin at all, they are “make the best out of anything” type of people. Definitely a first for all in attendance. It was an emotional ceremony and quite beautiful with the little twinkle lights in the kitchen and the pottery and wood shelves surrounding the family and friends as they stood overlooking the couple and their single attendants on either side.
The reception showed off the couple’s love for craft beers. Each table had fresh flowers with vases of specialty beers collected by the bride and groom. The vintage china and individual sized homemade pies added to the chic, farm atmosphere as the DJ spun real, actual records in the background. Each of the guests was guided to their seats by a table number represented by a special date in C and D’s lives.
It was an unforgettable day, for sure. So thankful we were there to capture it. #mcheff
