Taking place at the always inspiring Heritage Prairie Farm, this unique wedding of blues and yellows featured calla lilies and phaleanopsis , some of the best neighborhoods in Chicago, and even a serenade by Kieth Semple from season 9 of The Voice. Colette wore a satin gown by Allure Bridal and all her girls wore bright blue dresses with a unique triangle cutout. The guys went bold with lilies on the lapel and yellow bow ties with yellow matching socks. All the beautiful details and special touches took back seat to the main event of the day which was Colette and her amazing movie star looks and blazing red hair. I think she must be related to Julianne Moore somehow. Look at her bridal portraits and you’ll see what I mean.
The reception was decorated with so many whimsical touches. The tables were set with a variety of vintage farm plates and guests were able to find their tables named after popular Chicago neighborhoods. The sweetheart table was named after the South Loop because that is the neighborhood where Colette and Andrew met. Also, the table layout was designed so the southernmost neighborhoods started at the sweetheart table and then each table matched their true locations as you head north in the city with the most northern neighborhood ending at the DJ booth.
Jars filled with sliced lemons were scattered throughout the party and all the guests went home with a special gifted jar of honey from the farm. The sweets table was courtesy of the famous Stans Doughnuts in Chicago, Illinois. The simpler but very decadent wedding cake was a special gift from their Aunt Lou who continued the family tradition and supplied the homemade peanut butter delicacy.
Their talented musician friend, Kieth Semple, showed up to play an amazing first dance song called “Take Me Home”. Look him up. He’s a ferocious talent. Lee Michaels took over later to get the party going on the dance floor.
One of my personal favorite details at this Heritage Prairie wedding was the custom invite designed by Jinaiji and printed by Zazzle. It was such a personal touch to the day and really set the tone for their guests. My favorite moment? They skipped down the aisle after their kiss. Heart emoji, heart emoji, heart emoji…..
We are so excited to have this wedding also be featured on Chicago Style Weddings recently. Yay!
