My insides were nervous and tense, but Carolyn seemed cool as can be as her aunt proceeded to cut away at her 20 foot long veil. They needed to trim it to the correct length for the ceremony. I have obviously been to a lot of weddings, but hadn’t seen the veil trimmed right before the wedding before. There was something very ceremonial and old fashioned that I just loved about the whole process, but at the same time I was thinking “What if something goes wrong?”. I know a lot of people think this on wedding days about this not working, or that not looking just right, but it always reminds me to think of what really, really matters. At the end of the day, you’re still getting married, even if the veil gets cut an inch too short. Carolyn’s veil, however, was cut to the perfect length so to trail behind her as she entered the cathedral and Nick saw her in her stunning gown for the very first time.
The wedding was held the weekend after Thanksgiving at the beautiful St. Cyril and Methodius Parish in Lemont, Illinois. The reception was at Patrick C. Haley Mansion in Joliet.
During their exit from the church, the guest threw pennies in celebration, which was slightly dangerous, but fun. This entire day was fun and we are so thankful we were able to be there to capture their story.
